From Medicare to Medishare

Remember when Congress represented the people? Remember when organizations such as AARP and most of organized labor knew which side of their bread was buttered? Remember when major legislation that effected all of us took months even years to pass? Remember when each and every time our representatives changed a law, they checked to see if it would have repercussions? Remember a FCC concept in political advertising called equal time? Remember fair and equal trade policies (before NAFTA and the 2002 China takeover)? Remember equal pay for equal work and overtime (Dubya must think paid overtime hurts employers and CEO’s)? Remember “One man, one vote” (The 2002 election proved that not to be the case in Dubya’s country)? Remember when there were a few honest and principled elected officials (there still are a few, very few)?

Today as I watched the President (Dubwa) sign his Medishare Bill, I marveled at the group of distinguished members of congress there and those he mentioned by name as responsible for this legislation. The CEO and the President of AARP/RNC were given much credit for this legislation. I believe they deserve that credit and should use some of it to borrow and replace the $4,000,000. Dollars they spent of senior citizens money on advertising for Dubya to help him pass the bill.

It would appear those Presidents and CEO’s are not required to represent their constituency just like Congressmen and Senators. We thought the AARP was for us (retired folks). Wrong! We believed most Congressmen and Senators represent the lobbyists and their special interests in Washington, and that they receive their money in large part from the Health Care Industry and HMO’s (formerly Doctors and Hospitals), and Pharmaceutical Companies (Drug Peddlers). Now we know that the CEO’s and Presidents of groups such as AARP have joined the RNC.

Their $4,000,000 dollar contribution to Dubya’s 2004 campaign should be noted for what it is. According to many political analysts, Dubya has taken the issue of prescription drugs away from the Democratic Party and made it his own.

I watched Dubya speak in Pittsburgh at one of his fundraisers. He did not use “Steel City” once in his address. He stumbled stuttered only once when he referred to Pittsburgh. He never mentioned Pittsburgh the following day when he stopped the sanctions on imported steel. Maybe America’s steelworkers will have something to say about this in November 2004.

I think we should watch and see where folks like Senator John Breaux and others who backed this so-called Medishare Bill, go to work when they leave public service. The young lady that got her job at Boeing Aircraft in return for help on government contracts would seem to substantiate that one hand washes the other in Washington.

They (Dubya and the RNC) lie and say things are getting better every day. The economy is growing by leaps and bounds, profits are up, the stock market is up, and the recession is over.

The truth is over 2,700,000 jobs are gone forever. We are in a deepening recession as is the entire world. Profits are up for large corporations that are outsourcing jobs to China and India or opening factories in Mexico or Laos. Try calling Microsoft for support on your computer. You will get a representative in India. Call technical support for Sun Micro Systems and talk to their people in India. Try to find clothing in you local Wal-Mart store that is not made in China.

Our national treasure, timber, and out national recycled waste, is all going to China or Japan to be made into products, cut into boards, or chipped into composite boards and then shipped back to us for sale in America. Almost every tree cut in America or discarded newspapers have a round trip ticket to China or Japan, paid in full. Look at the cotton fields in the south. Cotton was the last product raised, refined, and manufactured into retail goods 100% American. Not any more!

So our manufacturing industry is gone, our oil industry is gone (Standard Oil, Amoco, almost all of them are now owned by foreign interests). Our food industry in now dominated by imports, even killer onions from Mexico which will be pulled off the market in two years according to Dwbya’s people. Automobiles sold in America are not built in America. Chrysler is a German Company. General Motors make as many cars and trucks in foreign countries as they do here. Ford builds theirs in France and a dozen other countries. And Toyota and Mercedes are made in America and the profits go to Japan and Germany.

Trade deficit? The public does not understand what that is but it will hit billion ($5,000,000,000,000.) this year. Perhaps it might help if we would consider someone asking us to make a deal with them saying; “I have three brand new dollar bills that I will trade you for those three old crinkled twenties you have”. If you don’t get the point yet just look in your driveway and see if you have an American made vehicle. If you don’t, you took the guy up on the deal and lost fifty-seven dollars. When you put on you shoes if their Florshime, Brown Shoe, International Shoe, Dexter, or Bass, you took the bait.

My Dad told me that a half-truth is a Lie! I still believe a white lie is no different that a premeditated lie.

The Dubya administration is taking back everything we worked for. Redistribution of the wealth of America from working class to the rich is a fact. The problem is that this time the rich are getting the shaft as well. All of the changes occurring will effect them as well. It won’t be a matter of the top 3% getting it all, this time it will be the top .00000000000001%.
